Mods on Scooters in London, 1979

After Punk there was a bit of a lull during 1978 with a load of second-rate bands playing to disinterested audiences. But The Jam were still around, and in November of ’78 they released their third album, “All Mod Cons” that kick-started a Mod revival.

Kids shrugged-off their bondage trousers and pulled on Harrington jackets, Ben Sherman shirts, sta-press trousers and brogues. Paul Weller was the style icon of the time and a Mod scene sprung-up around Secret Affair, The Chords and the Purple Hearts.
